For each product you add to LAC, you define the following in the General tab of the Create New Product dialog:

Description

Product Name

Enter the name for the software application you are adding to LAC.

Product Version

Enter the version number for the product (limited to numbers and periods; e.g., 1.5). The combination of product name and version must be unique. For example, you can add two products with the same name only if the version numbers are different for each.

License Manager

Select the license manager that will be used for generating licenses for this product. LAC currently supports LM-X, FlexNet or Reprise License Manager.

License Generator

Select the license generator the product will use. The license generator must be added as described in Adding and managing license generators. The available options in this selection list are limited to the license generators you have added for the selected license manager.

If you have not yet created the license generator, leave this selection at its default, "Not Specified." You can then edit the product and select the license generator later, after you have added the needed license generator. Note that you cannot generate licenses for the product until you have specified the license generator for the product. Products for which a license generator has not yet been selected will display Not Specified in orange in the License Generator Name column in the Products grid on the Products page. 

Description

Enter a product description if desired. This field is optional.

After entering the general product information, click Next to save your changes and continue to the next tab, Features.
