We highly recommended upgrading License Statistics as often as possible, and at least every two years.
This page details X-Formation's support policy and provides a list of supported versions, which is updated with each minor release, typically three to four times a year.
Support and upgrade policies
X-Formation's policies for support and upgrades are detailed below.
Support
- X-Formation provides support and maintenance for License Statistics for eight minor versions (at least two years) prior to the current version.
- The X-Formation Support Team provides phone and online help only for supported versions
- For versions that are no longer supported, X-Formation support is limited to assisting with updating License Statistics to a newer, supported version
Installation
- Installers for supported versions of License Statistics are available to download from the X-Formation download portal
- In some cases, older installers are also available (for example, when installing an older version is required to maintain the update chain)
- Direct update to the newest version from supported older versions is possible using the installers:
- MSI
- RPM
- DEB
- Direct update to the newest version from unsupported older versions may first require upgrading to a newer, supported version. For details, please follow the instructions matching your scenario.
Database
- X-Formation supports MySQL Server versions for the length of time they are supported by the vendor (generally, two years from their release date)
- Direct update of the MySQL Server by more than one major LTS (Long-Term Support) version is not supported by the vendor
- If you are using an external database, you must update the database prior to updating License Statistics
- If you are using an embedded database, it will be updated automatically by the installer when updating License Statistics from a supported version

Data migration
- The ability to migrate data directly to the newest version is maintained for two to four years
- Existing data migrations are supported for eight previous versions
- New data migrations are added for another eight versions
- The oldest migrations are removed as new ones are added, so that only the last eight versions are kept
Example
X-Formation's policy to maintain data migrations for longer than two years was introduced to allow for easier update from unsupported older versions by making a clean License Statistics installation and restoring the database backup on the new host.
- Data can be migrated from License Statistics v6.18 directly to License Statistics v7.0
- Direct migration from v6.18 will remain possible until License Statistics v7.8 is released
- With License Statistics v7.8, all data migrations prior to v7.0 will be removed, and directly updating the database to v7.8 and newer from versions older than v7.0 will not be possible
Licenses
- Licenses generated for supported versions of License Statistics may not work with older, unsupported versions
Example
All licenses generated after License Statistics v7.0 will work with all versions supported at the time v7.0 was released (License Statistics v6.18 and above). However, the licenses will not work with older, unsupported versions (versions prior to License Statistics v6.18).
