The information on this page refers to License Statistics v3.12, which replaced the User Activity Per Feature report with this new User History page. If you are running License Statistics v3.11, please refer to v3.11 documentation for information relevant to that version.

From the Features page, the User History tab shows statistics for license usage by user, during any period that usage was tracked.

From the top of this page, select the license server and feature for which you want to view the user history.

Filtering results

You can filter results by users that had a license checked out at a specified date and time using the Advanced Filtering area.

If you select only a date (not a time), the statistics report includes the entire day's activity for the feature, including any overlapping usage. For example, if a user checked out a license on 2010-09-01 at 22:00 and returned it on 2010-09-02 at 02:00, that user will be included in the reports for both days.

General Information

The General Information area includes identifying information for the feature, the last update time, a share code if sharing is in use (for example, "Shared on: HOST"), and the license type.

User History grid

The User History grid shows the username, hostname and start and end times the feature was used. Start and end times define the time a given user on host used at least one license. If the user still has the feature checked out, the End Time will state "Still in use."

User History grid versus Usage Per User report

When a user checks out a license, the license server assigns an identifier for the checkout called a Session ID. The user can check out more than one license from the same host per Session ID, but the User History grid is able to show only a single row for each user/host pair. The User History grid cannot be used to monitor the maximum used/borrowed licenses or hours used/borrowed. To get a report on this type of usage data, use the Usage Per User report.

For example, the following scenarios are handled differently in the User History grid versus the Usage Per User report:

ScenarioUser History grid resultsUsage Per User report results
User_A checks out 4 licenses at one time using Host_1.One row lists the User_A, Host_1 pair. The data does not include number of licenses checked out.One row lists User_A, aggregated by Username. Includes number of licenses used at the same time (4) in the "Max Used" column.
User_A checks out 1 license using Host_1, returns the license 10 minutes later, then checks out the license again 5 minutes later. One row lists the User_A, Host_1 pair. The data does not include number of licenses checked out.One row lists User_A, aggregated by Username. Includes number of licenses used at the same time (1) in the "Max Used" column.
