Communication problems with Usage Client

If there are communication problems between the License Statistics Usage Client and the FLEXlm/FlexNet license server, you may see the following error in the License Statistics log file:

[Detecting lmgrd processes...]
Error getting status: Cannot connect to license server system. (-15,570)
lmgrd is not running: License server machine is down or not responding. (-96,7:11001 "Comm. error")
2009-06-30 17:31:00] WARNING: Unable to parse logfile for server @ServerName! Please make sure the server is up and available!

To resolve this issue, edit the license server and make sure that:

  1. The server port number is correct.
  2.  DNS and Firewall settings are configured correctly to ensure that the machine on which License Statistics is installed is accessible by the license server and vice versa.

Furthermore, note that the vendor daemon name is case sensitive.

...

The information on this page refers to License Statistics 6.1 and newer, which changed the name of the "Error Log" grid to "Event Log." If you are using a version previous to v6.1, see documentation for previous versions.

Invalid license file path

If there are problems with a license file path location, you may see the following error:

...

You can test importing FLEXlm/FlexNet log files using the trial version of License Statistics; however, License Statistics will show only 20% of  any data older than the trial start date in the imported log will not be included in the imported data in the browser. An import license that will allow you to import and view all your FLEXlm/FlexNet import data is available on request by contacting X-Formation. and shown in License Statistics results.

Problems using port 27000

...

FlexNet vendor names are case-sensitive by default, so you may see the following error if the case is not specified correctly when adding or editing the license server

[2012/05/10 08:00:00] ERROR: Unable to find any licenses served by the license server!

...

To configure the FlexNet server correctly in License Statistics for multiple vendor daemons, specify each as a separate license server using a unique port value, as described in Adding and editing realtime license servers.

Incomplete lmdiag output for FlexNet license server

If there is a problem with the output produced by the lmutil lmdiag command, the following message will appear in the Error Event Log grid every 12 hours.

"Output of the lmutil lmdiag command is incomplete, which can cause incorrect or incomplete data in License Statistics. Please ensure that your license server is able to correctly print out the lmdiag output."

...

To resolve this issue, you must correctly specify the server port number. If specifying the server port number does not resolve your problem, you should contact your software vendor for a solution.
