The information on this page refers to License Statistics v6.0 or newer, which introduced new licensing model (2019). |
To setup a floating license for License Statistics, you must configure and start the LM-X license server using the lmx-enduser-tools installer (included with the License Statistics distribution and located in the license directory) and correctly configure License Statistics. Note that to install LM-X license server, you need to specify the path to the liblmxvendor.dll file, whose default location is also the license directory.
Optionally, you can split one license into two or more licenses. This is useful when you want to have multiple instances of License Statistics; for example, one for production and one for testing purposes. In such a case, multiple instances of License Statistics are installed and configured separately, but share the limitations (i.e., allowed number of users and license servers) of a single floating license.
For example, assume we have a floating license for up to 200 users and 10 servers. For the test installation, we will set the user and server limits to 20 users and 2 servers. The settings you would make in the configuration file for this scenario are as follows.
New licensing model (2019) example:
For the test installation:
LICENSE_PATH = @your-LM-X-machine
LICENSE_TOTAL_USER = 20
LICENSE_TOTAL_SERVER = 2
For the production installation:
LICENSE_PATH = @your-LM-X-machine
LICENSE_TOTAL_USER = 180
LICENSE_TOTAL_SERVER = 8
Old licensing model (2013) example:
For the test installation:
LICENSE_PATH = @your-LM-X-machine
LICENSE_TOTAL_USER_REALTIME = 20
LICENSE_TOTAL_SERVER_REALTIME = 2
LICENSE_TOTAL_USER_IMPORT = 0
LICENSE_TOTAL_SERVER_IMPORT = 0
For the production installation:
LICENSE_PATH = @your-LM-X-machine
LICENSE_TOTAL_USER_REALTIME = 180
LICENSE_TOTAL_SERVER_REALTIME = 8
LICENSE_TOTAL_USER_IMPORT = 0
LICENSE_TOTAL_SERVER_IMPORT = 0
