Due to database structure changes made in version 5.14, ensure that the free disk space for MySQL temporary files is at least double the current size of the database during the migration. The additional disk space is needed only temporarily for the migration.
- Backup the following files, located in the License Statistics installation directory by default:
- configuration file (xflicstat.cfg)
- license file (license.lic)
- move 3rd party utilities (for example, query tools) to some location outside of the License Statistics installation directory
- Backup the database
- Download the License Statistics installation from the License Statistics download page
- Stop License Statistics service
- Remove the current installation
Upgrade/install new database server to MySQL 5.7 as instructed in Upgrading to MySQL v5.7
This step applies only when upgrading License Statistics with external database and it's mandatory to successfully run License Statistics v5.15 and above.
Do not run License Statistics yet.
- Restore database
- Import or activate the license
Import or restore configuration settings
Avoid replacing new xflicstat.cfg file with the backed up copy due to risk of incompatibility. It's recommended to configure new xfclistat.cfg file using the values from old one.
If you created a new MySQL database in step 6, make sure you are using the proper credentials for the new MySQL 5.7 database.
- Start License Statistics
Update query tool paths on License Server administration page to the new directory
The query tool executable (and the path provided in the License Statistics UI) must be local, so if specifying a query tool, ensure that the executable is on the same machine as the License Statistics installation.
