Read-only mode was introduced in License Statistics 6.0 for the user convenience. It allows to run application and make basic administration tasks even if the license was exceeded or expired. License Statistics versions prior to 6.0 where not starting in most of cases related to license over-usage or passed expiration time.
Application fails to start
Application will fail to start due to licensing in the cases listed below:
- Version of the application is higher than the version in the license.
- Maintenance expired, but application was upgraded.
In the cases listed above License Statistics won't start read-only mode due to potential database migration. This prevents irreversible changes in customers data if he would have to decrease License Statistics instance.
Application runs in read-only mode
Read-only mode will be enable automatically in the situations listed below:
- License (including Trial) has expired.
- Users limit exceeds the license limit.
- License Server limit exceeds the license limit.
Read-only mode capabilities
While read-only mode is running it's possible to:
- login to the application
- access Realtime Users Count report
- manage user preferences
- perform all administration actions, in particular:
- manage License Servers
- manage Users
- access License Details
- remove historical data
Read-only mode limitations
While read-only mode is running it's not possible to:
- display any data on reports, grids and charts different than listed above
- monitor any Realtime License Servers, all of them will be blocked from querying
- import any log files
