The information on this page refers to License Statistics v6.7 17 and newer, which introduced the License Statistics Agent Server mode. If you are using an earlier version, please refer to the documentation for earlier versions. 

License Statistics Agent is an a License Statistics add-on tool to License Statistics that enables client usage monitoring for applications that are licensed on an external host by communicating between these that communicates between applications and License Statistics, running as a service in the background. that can run in either End User or Server mode, as described below.

License Statistics Agent is currently available only for Windows can be used only on Windows, but is compatible with both Windows and Linux server installations of License Statistics. See Installing and configuring License Statistics Agent runs as a service in the background, and has no user interface.  

Currently, License Statistics Agent allows monitoring only for Autodesk license usage on end-user hosts.

If you have issues with License Statistics Agent, try reviewing the log file in the hidden directory "C:\ProgramDataThe License Statistics Agent installer (.msi file) is included in the License Statistics installation "tools" directory (by default: C:\Program Files\X-Formation\License Statistics \tools). The installation file is also available on the X-Formation website in the same location as the License Statistics installation, available by going to the License Statistics download page.

Requirements

Installation of License Statistics Agent has the following requirements:

  • Windows 10 or Windows Server 2012+ (64-bit)
  • Memory: 1GB
  • CPU: 2 cores
  • Disk: 1GB

To install License Statistics Agent, open the .msi file and follow the instructions in the installation wizard. By default:

  • All of the application files are kept in Program Files by default
  • All user data is kept in C:\ProgramData\X-Formation\License Statistics Agent folder (includes logs, configuration file, etc).

After installation, you can optionally start License Statistics Agent before exiting the installation wizard.

You must provide configuration information for License Statistics Agent during the installation procedure, as described below.

License Statistics URL

The License Statistics URL is an endpoint to the license server, configured in License Statistics, that LSA will communicate with. The URL can be found in the License Statistics administration page using "Copy Agent URL to clipboard" action available on the Realtime License Servers grid (currently available only for Autodesk license servers).

  • Agent API Token which is an authorization token. It can be generated in Preferences->API. The token should contain Agent scope, only administrators can generated tokens with this scope.

Uninstalling

License Statistics Agent can be uninstalled using the standard Windows uninstallation procedure. Uninstalling License Statistics Agent stops the service and removes it from the system. Optionally, you can specify during uninstallation to remove the user data, including logs, configuration file, etc.

Installation of the License Statistics Agent is unlimited, but only one agent can be installed per host.

Server Agent mode

The License Statistics Server Agent is installed on the license server host.

Server Agent currently supports License Server Management, including Start/Stop/Restart of the server, directly from the License Statistics UI (currently available only for FlexNet and LM-X license managersIf you choose to retain the user data, it will be reused if License Statistics Agent is reinstalled (for example, the configuration data will be automatically filled in on the configuration form during installation).
