The information on this page refers to License Statistics v3v5.120, which replaced the User Activity Per Feature report with this new User History pageAdvanced Filtering panel with the Settings panel and introduced the ability to filter results by time period. If you are running a previous version of License Statistics v3.11, please refer to the documentation relevant to your version: v3.12 documentation; v3.11 documentationfor information relevant to that version.

From the Features page, the User History tab shows statistics for license usage by user, during any period that usage was tracked.

...

You can filter results by users that had a license checked out at a specified date and time using the Advanced Filtering area.or you can choose the time period for which you want to view the usage history from the Settings panel, as described below.

Showing sessions at a particular period of time

To specify the start date, end date and time interval for which you want to view the usage history, check the “Show sessions at time period” box in the Settings panel. For example, you can set the time interval to a week and the start date to 2015-07-01, as shown below.

When you configure these settings, the reports will include all user sessions which:

  1. Started between 2015-07-01 00:00:00 and 2015-07-08 23:59:59
  2. Finished between 2015-07-01 00:00:00 and 2015-07-08 23:59:59
  3. Started before 2015-07-01 00:00:00 and:
    a). finished after 2015-07-08 23:59:59
b). are still active for realtime license servers
c). there is no information about the end time of the session for imported license servers

Showing sessions at a particular point in time

To specify the precise date and time for which you want to view the user history, check the “Show sessions at time point ” box in the Settings panel. For example, if you adjust the settings as shown below, your report will include sessions for all users that were checking licenses at 00:20 on 2015-10-13.

If you select only a date (not a time), the statistics report includes the entire day's activity for the feature, including any overlapping usage. For example, if a user checked out a license on 2014-09-01 at 22:00 and returned it on 2014-09-02 at 02:00, that user will be included in the reports for both days.Image Added

General Information

The General Information area includes identifying information for the feature, the last update time, a share code if sharing is in use (for example, "Shared on: HOST"), and the license type.

...

The User History grid shows the username, hostname and start and end times the feature was used. Start and end times define the time a given user on host used at least one license. If For realtime license servers, if the user still has the feature checked out, the End Time will state "Still in use". For imported license servers, if we don't have information about the end time of the session, the End Time will state "Unknown".

You can add the User history report to the License Statistics Dashboard. Learn more about customizing the Dashboard.

User History grid versus Usage Per User report

When a user checks out a license, the license server assigns an identifier for the checkout called a Session ID. The user can check out more than one license from the same host per Session ID, but the User History grid is able to show only a single row for each user/host pair and a Session ID. Sometimes you can see two rows in the grid instead of one. This can occur when there are problems with querying the license server and we have no information for a given period of time. In such situations we should treat them as two distinct sessions.

The User History grid cannot be used to monitor the maximum used/borrowed licenses or hours used/borrowed. To get a report on this type of usage data, use the Usage Per User report. For example, the following scenarios are handled differently in the User History grid versus the Usage Per User report:

ScenarioUser History Grid ResultsUsage Per User Report Results
User_A checks out 4 licenses at one time using Host_1.One row lists the User_A, Host_1 pair. The data does not include number of licenses checked out.One row lists User_A, aggregated by Username. Includes number of licenses used at the same time (4) in the "Max Used" column.
User_A checks out 1 license using Host_1, returns the license 10 15 minutes later, then checks out the license again 5 minutes later. One row lists Two rows list the User_A, Host_1 pair. The data does not include number of licenses checked out.One row lists User_A, aggregated by Username. Includes number of licenses used at the same time (1) in the "Max Used" column.
