Before running License Statistics, you should review and edit the configuration settings for your specific needs.

Configuration settings include details about the following:

• HTTP Server configuration
• MySQL Server configuration
• SSL configuration
• License configuration
• Java path setting
• Additional/Other settings

For Windows:

You can review and edit configuration settings using the License Statistics Manager, which automatically opens , xflicstat.cfg, located in the License Statistics directory. This file specifies settings such as License Statistics output file paths, update intervals, and the host server information of the applications for which License Statistics will gather statistics.For Windows, the configuration file opens automatically upon completion of the License Statistics installation. You can also open the file at any time from the License Statistics program group (Start > Program Files > X-Formation > License Statistics > Configuration).

Replace the existing information in the configuration file with your site-specific information as needed. The configuration file includes instructions that describe each setting in the file. Settings include:

• Installation directory path
• MySQL server, port and login settings
• License Statistics database name
  
• Apache server port number
• HTTP base URL
• Enabling and setting file paths to use Apache SSL
• Web server port
• License Statistics data update interval
• Timeout setting for reader (Windows only)
• License server(s), which may be any of the license servers listed in Supported license servers
  (Note: For LM-X, FLEXlm/FlexNet, and beta_lm, three servers can be specified for HAL/redundant servers. For IBM LUM, three servers can be specified for clusters.)
• Utility paths:
  - lmxendutil (LM-X)
  - lmutil (FLEXlm/FlexNet)
  - i4blt (IBM LUM)
  - lsmon and lsmon parameters (Sentinel LM/RMS)
  - rlmutil (RLM)
  - beta_lm_stat (BETA LM)
  - licman20_appl (LICMAN)
  - lstc_qrun (LS-Dyna)
  - DSLicSrv (Dassault)
  - licstat (GNS)
  - monitorlm (MathLM)
• Make users and hosts anonymous in database and HTML output (normally used to protect users for legal reasons, as is required in some countries)
• Feature versioning (automatically merge version number with feature name for all features) for License Statistics and denied requests log
• Alternative query tool
• Denied requests log feature versioning (IBM LUM)
• RPC server port
  

These settings are saved to a configuration file that should not be edited directly, unless you are instructed to do so by X-Formation support. If you are upgrading from a version prior to License Statistics v6.6 to License Statistics v6.6 or newer, you can optionally use the License Statistics Manager to import the settings from your backed up xflicstat.cfg configuration file.  

After you have configured License Statistics, you are ready to run it as a service on Windows as described in Starting and stopping License Statistics on Windows. If License Statistics was already running when you made changes to the configuration file, you must restart License Statistics for any changes to the configuration file to take effect.

For Linux:

You can review and edit configuration settings in the xflicstat.cfg file, located in the License Statistics installation directory. When upgrading License Statistics on Linux, we recommend copying the settings from the old configuration file into the new one.

After you have configured License Statistics, you are ready to start it as a service on Windows (see Starting and stopping License Statistics on Windows) or run it as a daemon on Unix Linux (see Starting and stopping License Statistics on UnixLinux).See the following sections for considerations when configuring License Statistics If License Statistics was already running when you made changes to the configuration file, you must restart License Statistics for any changes to the configuration file to take effect.
