The information on this page refers to License Statistics v6v7.6 4 or newer, which introduced the License Statistics Manager, a tool that replaces direct editing of the xflicstat.cfg configuration file for Windows installationsadded the ability to specify a bind address. If you are running an older version of License Statistics, see documentation for previous versions.

The settings for configuring the HTTP server are described below.

Port

The License Statistics configuration includes a port setting ("WEBSERVER_PORT" in the "HTTP" section of the xflicstat.cfg file, or "Port" in the License Statistics Manager's Webserver tab) for is used to specify the HTTP server used for viewing License Statistics output.

The port setting defaults to 80 when SSL is disabled, or 443 when SSL is enabled. You should check the log file to ensure that the port is available for your site, and change this setting if needed.

SSL

For more information about SSL configuration, see see Enabling Tomcat SSL.For common problems with configuring web server ports and steps to resolve them, see Configuring web server ports. The HTTP server configuration also includes a setting for the base URL, which is the address used to access the License Statistics UI using a browser.

Base URL

The base URL setting is used to set the address for accessing the License Statistics UI in a browser.

Note

The base URL setting is used in email templates and other places where License Statistics references the service address accessible in the network.

License Statistics does not use the base URL setting for redirections. If you need to redirect License Statistics to the base URL (for example, from http://myhost to https://my.domain.com) you must do the redirection in the network configuration using proxy or DNS rules.

Bind Address

The bind address setting ("WEBSERVER_BIND_ADDRESS" in the "HTTP" section of the xflicstat.cfg file, or "Bind Address" in the License Statistics Manager's Webserver tab) is used to specify the bind address (for example, 127.0.0.1) for localhost connections only.

Note

In License Statistics versions older than v7.4, the bind address was statically set to 0.0.0.0 (allow all incoming connections). For backward compatibility, we have temporarily retained the default setting of 0.0.0.0; however, we will change the default setting to 127.0.0.1 in the future. Please note this breaking change accordingly and prepare for any reconfiguration that may need to be made by your system administrator.
