For each product, you must specify information about the license generator you will use. LAC supports LM-X License Manager, FlexNet Publisher, and Reprise License Manager license generators.

You specify the license generator information using the License Generator tab, which is contained in the Create New Product and Edit Product dialogs, accessed from the Products page. The settings in the License Generator tab depend on which license generator type you selected from the General tab, and include the following.

Field

Description

License Generator

The license generator that is uploaded/associated for the product (e.g., for LM-X, xmllicgen).

Name

A descriptive name for the generator (e.g., LM-X v4.1).

Type

Displays the license generator type (LM-X, FlexNet, or Reprise) that you selected in the General tab. This field is non-modifiable.

Vendor Daemon Name

This field is included only if you selected FlexNet as the license generator type. The vendor daemon name defaults to "demo."

ISV Daemon Name

This field is included only if you selected Reprise as the license generator type. The ISV daemon name defaults to "demo."

License Generator Platform

The operating system the license generator runs on (Windows 32-bit or Linux 32-bit/64-bit).

Executable

The license generator executable (e.g., xmllicgen.exe). You must select and upload this file.

LM-X Security Configuration File

This field is included only if you selected LM-X as the license generator type.

This field is optional. For LM-X v3.5 and newer, a security configuration file (e.g., vendor.lmx) is only needed for backwards compatibility and is not otherwise recommended.

If you use a security configuration file, you must select and upload it.

Command-line Parameters

The set of parameters used to call the license generator. This value differs depending on the license generator type selected and is not modifiable.

Optional parameters

Any additional optional parameters for calling xmllicgen.

Normally, you do not need to add parameters; however, there may be cases where you need to set a flag for backward compatibility, as described in LM-X release notes and/or X-Formation Knowledgebase articles.

License File Extension

The file extension that will be used for the license file. This field is required and can contain from 1 to 10 characters. This field is set to "lic" by default.

Description

An optional description for the license generator.
