For each product, you must specify a license generator. LAC supports LM-X, FlexNet Publisher, and Reprise License Manager license generators.

To specify the license generator for a product, go to the License Generator tab in the Create New Product or Edit Product dialog (accessed from the Products page), and enter the following information.

Field

Description

License Generator

The license generator that is uploaded/associated for the product (e.g., for LM-X, xmllicgen).

Name

A descriptive name for the generator (e.g., LM-X v3.6).

Type

The license generator type (LM-X, FlexNet, or Reprise).

Vendor Daemon Name

If you select FlexNet as the license generator type, this field becomes available; otherwise, it is hidden. The vendor daemon name defaults to "demo."

ISV Daemon Name

If you select Reprise as the license generator type, this field becomes available; otherwise, it is hidden. The ISV daemon name defaults to "demo."

License Generator Platform

The operating system the license generator runs on (Windows 32-bit or Linux 32-bit/64-bit).

The license generator executable name (e.g., xmllicgen.exe). You must select and upload this file.

LM-X Security Configuration File

If you select LM-X as the license generator type, this field becomes available; otherwise, it is hidden.

This field is optional. For LM-X 3.5 and newer, a security configuration file (e.g., vendor.lmx) is only needed for backwards compatibility and is not otherwise recommended.

If you use a security configuration file, you must select and upload it.

Command-line Parameters

The set of parameters used to call the license generator. This value differs depending on the license generator type selected and is not modifiable.

Optional parameters

Any additional optional parameters for calling xmllicgen.

Normally, you do not need to add parameters; however, there may be cases where you need to set a flag for backward compatibility, as described in LM-X release notes and/or X-Formation Knowledgebase articles.

The file extension that will be used for the license file. This field is required and can contain from 1 to 10 characters. This field is set to "lic" by default.
