We strongly recommend using License Activator to activate License Statistics licenses on Windows, as described in Installing License Statistics on Windows with a FlexNet Server.
If you are activating License Statistics licenses on Linux, you must activate your Linux license online using our License Activation Center. When you use this method, be sure to follow the instructions below carefully to ensure activation is successful. Generally, license re-hosting is free; however, we reserve a right to charge an administrative fee for unusually frequent re-hosting caused by repeated errors. Most errors can be avoided by carefully following these activation instructions and other instructions you've been given.
To activate your license online using Windows or Linux:
- Log into the License Activation Center.
- Enter your license activation key, provided to you via email, in the Activate License section of the login page. (If you cannot locate your activation key, you can find it by clicking the link "Get your activation keys" on the LAC login page.)
- After entering your activation key, click Log in.
- Enter the ETHERNET and HOSTNAME HostIDs for the machine where the license is being installed. If available, also enter the machine's HARDDISK, BIOS, and WIN_PRODUCT_ID HostIDs.
The format to enter your HostID information is TYPE1=value1, TYPE2=value2, etc. For example: ETHERNET=0018DEBC98A8, HOSTNAME=amilo.
If you want to activate the license from a machine other than where License Statistics is installed, use the optional parameter "-hostid ETHERNET=value."
To find the HostIDs, use the command-line utility lmxendutil, version 4.0 or newer (located in the license directory under the License Statistics installation directory) with the parameter -hostid:lmxendutil -hostid
Note: If you need to obtain the lmxendutil utility, see "Installing end-user tools and LM-X license server" for download and installation instructions. - Click Activate license.
- Click Download license.
- Copy the file in the license directory under the License Statistics installation directory.
- See Installing License Statistics on Windows with a FlexNet Server or Installing License Statistics on Linux with a FlexNet Server for remaining instructions on getting License Statistics up and running after activating your license.
