The information on this page refers to License Statistics v4.12 or newer, which eliminated the need to run an Apache web server manually by copying the command from the log file. Because all information is now stored in log/licstat.log instead of log/xflicstat.log, it is no longer necessary to start an Apache web server manually to obtain exact information about errors. If your are using an earlier version, please refer to the documentation for releases prior to v4.12.

If there are problems with an Apache web server, you may see one or more of the following errors in the License Statistics log file.

[2012-04-01 08:0:00] Starting secondary apache process timed out. Unable to start apache web server.

[2012-04-01 08:00:00] Already running apache web server sends failed respond. Failed to start apache web server.

[2012-04-01 08:00:00] External apache stopped running.

To investigate the cause of these errors: by reviewing the information stored in the License Statistics log file.

  1. Start License Statistics in debug mode. (See Enabling License Statistics debug logs for instructions on enabling debug mode.)
     
  2. Review the information stored in License Statistics log file. 

You may also see an error similar to the following:

External apache stopped running.

To investigate the cause of this error, you should verify this Apache instance.

Note: When using Linux, make sure all 32-bit compatible libraries are installed, as mentioned in Operating system and resource requirements. An installation wizard will keep you informed which libraries are missing. If not all 32-bit libraries are installed, you may see one or more of the errors listed at the top of the page.
