  1. Log into the License Activation Center.

  2. Enter your license activation key, provided to you via email, in the Activate License section of the login page. (If you cannot locate your activation key, you can find it by clicking the link "Get your activation keys" on the LAC login page.)

  3. After entering your activation key, click Log in.

  4. Enter the ETHERNET and HOSTNAME HostIDs for the machine where the license is being installed. (Note that you can also add other HostIDs, for example HARDDISK, BIOS, and WIN_PRODUCT_ID HostIDs.)

The format to enter your HostID information is TYPE1=value1, TYPE2=value2, etc. For example: ETHERNET=0018DEBC98A8, HOSTNAME=amilo.

If you want to activate the license from a machine other than where License Statistics is installed, use a command line utility, lacutil, that lets you activate a license by explicitly specifying HostIDs.

To find the HostIDs, use the command-line utility lmxendutil, version 4.0 or newer (located in the license directory under the License Statistics installation directory) with the parameter -hostid:

    lmxendutil -hostid

Note: If you need to obtain the lmxendutil utility, see "Installing end-user tools and LM-X license server" for download and installation instructions.

  5. Click Activate license.

  6. Click Download license.

  7. Copy the license file in the license directory under the License Statistics installation directory. (Make sure the directory contains only a new license file).

  8. Restart License Statistics (see Starting and stopping License Statistics on Windows or Starting and stopping License Statistics on Linux for more information).

  9. See Installing License Statistics on Windows or Installing License Statistics on Linux for remaining instructions on getting License Statistics up and running after activating your license.
