If a customer is using HAL (LM-X License Manager’s High Availability Licensing), you must provide HostIDs for all three HAL servers when you create a license order. However, LAC allows only one set of HostIDs for one machine (local machine HostIDs for node-locked licensing or server HostIDs for network licensing).

To create a license order for a customer who is using HAL, follow the general instructions for creating the license order as given in Creating and managing license orders, but use the following steps when completing the HostID information:

  1. LAC cannot retrieve HostIDs from more than one machine, so contact the customer to get the HostID values for each of the three servers in the HAL configuration.
  2. In the HostIDs tab in the Add License Order dialog, set the HostID configuration to "Not SpecifiedLocked."
  3. Enter the HostID values for each HAL server in the Additional Settings field using SERVER_HOSTID settings as shown in the following example:

    <SERVER_HOSTID>

       <SETTING ETHERNET="00170843C3DF"/>

    </SERVER_HOSTID>

    <SERVER_HOSTID>

       <SETTING HOSTNAME="hostname"/>

    </SERVER_HOSTID>

    <SERVER_HOSTID>

       <SETTING ETHERNET="00170843C3DD"/>

    </SERVER_HOSTID>

  4. Complete the remaining steps for creating the license order as described in Creating and managing license orders.
