The information on this page refers to License Statistics v4.0 or newer, which added support for Felics. If you are running a previous version of License Statistics, please is deprecated. Please refer to the documentation relevant to your version: v3.11 documentation; v3.10 documentation. |
Requirements for installing and running License Statistics are detailed below.
Operating system and resource requirements
License Statistics run on both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.
Note: 32-bit executables can usually run on a 64-bit OS, due to a 32-bit compatibility layer. This is true for Linux and Windows, among others. Also note that License Statistics requires a 32-bit environment (e.g., 32-bit compatible libraries, etc.) when running on a 64-bit Linux platform. License Statistics does not currently run in a pure 64-bit Linux environment.

Info |
---|
License Statistics is supported on Windows 10 Pro on the Long-Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) of Windows 10 and will remain supported for the lifetime of the app. |
Resource-specific considerations for running License Statistics are given in the table below. We do our best to ensure License Statistics runs on all remaining distributions, but we cannot offer any guarantees. Requirements also Requirements vary depending on the number of license servers you are monitoring, as follows.

License server dependent requirements
In order to run License Statistics, you must meet the following requirements, depending on the license management service(s) used. You must provide the path to one or more of these utilities as appropriate in the configuration file; see Configuring License Statistics. If your site uses both Unix and Windows machines, be sure to use the utility that corresponds with the platform on which License Statistics is installed.

An error in the vendor name may cause problems with License Statistics usage monitoring. See "Failure to find licenses for FlexNet license server" in Troubleshooting for more information.

To enable logging, you must configure the LSERVOPTS environment variable. You can change the directory where it looks for the configuration files by setting the LSDEFAULTDIR variable. An example is shown below.

You must do a full client installation of IBM LUM for License Statistics to work with IBM LUM. Copying the i4blt executable is not sufficient.

Using GNS version 2.0.19 and newer is recommended. Earlier versions have known issues with misreported license usage, which may result in License Statistics either failing to generate the usage data or generating inaccurate statistics, due to the erroneous reporting of license usage by the GNS license server.
